The story begins at MIDEM in Cannes, 1995 — the most prestigious music industry gathering in the world. A young Gianluca Zanna, then serving as Italy’s youngest music publisher at Contatto Discografico in Rome, found himself face to face with Claes Cornelius — the legendary Danish executive whose taste and vision had discovered and launched Ace of Base to worldwide stardom through Mega Records.
That encounter in Cannes was the spark that drove Gianluca to uproot his life in Rome — abandoning a promising publishing career, followed by a dramatic 15-month period living on Rome’s streets as a gladiator performer — before immigrating to the United States in 1998. He arrived with a vision, a prophecy, and the discipline of a military-academy-trained athlete. 30 years later, Zanna reconnected with Claes Cornelius on Facebook and they became friends. Claes, in an email dated February 20, 2025, predicted the success of Gianluca Zanna’s song “You Are My Destiny.”
Today, Claes Cornelius has not only witnessed the prophecy fulfilled — Zanna reaching his dreams of becoming an international songwriter and getting You Are My Destiny to global recognition but has officially joined Zanna Records, collaborating with Gianluca on his biography All That I Wanted. The circle is complete.

The Artist Behind the Vision
Born and raised in Rome, Italy, educated at the Convitto Nazionale Vittorio Emanuele II boarding school and a military academy, Gianluca Zanna is one of the most unlikely and compelling success stories in modern independent music.
He immigrated to the United States in 1998 and built Zanna Records from the ground up in the Arizona desert, without major label support of any kind.
He performs as “Luca” in the EDM duo Luca and Claudette with his life and creative partner Claudette Lyons.
He is also the co-author (with Claudette Lyons) of the comic series The Adventures of Mr. Zanna & Zayin, published by Zanna Records.
